Journalist Jeffrey Selingo’s book, “Dream School: Finding the College That’s Right for You,” includes MSU in a list of 75 colleges that fit the profile of institutions that provide high-quality education, excellent student experiences and great employment outcomes.
MSU is the top public institution in the country for education abroad “programs to look for,” according to U.S. News & World Report. The university offers more than 350 education abroad programs in more than 65 countries on all continents.

Thousands of inventions have been reported by MSU faculty over the past quarter century. Spartan discoveries range from one of the world’s top cancer treatments to some of the most widely planted blueberry varieties around the globe.
MSU’s sustainability achievements have earned a No. 42 in the Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges: 2026 Edition. Sustainability is integrated into all facets of life at MSU, from academics and research to campus operations and partnerships. It’s also a major theme of the university’s strategic plan.
U.S. News & World Report ranks 10 MSU graduate programs as top 10 in the nation. MSU’s graduate programs in elementary and secondary education continue a 32-year streak at No. 1.
