Warm weather in late May means campus guests are going to be looking for a way to cool off. A scoop of ice cream from the MSU Dairy Store is the perfect remedy. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.

MSU hosted the 2023 Odyssey of the Mind World Finals May 22-28. The event is a global competition that allows students to develop their problem-solving capabilities, encourages collaboration with others and supplements students’ education through skits and challenges. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
During the 2023 Odyssey of the Mind World Finals, more than 600 teams from across 31 states and 10 countries came to MSU. Above, participants from Mexico cross the street on West Shaw Lane. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
On May 24 on the top floor of Spartan Stadium, researchers from MSU and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources secured tracking bands — in a banding ceremony — on four peregrine falcon chicks to monitor their movements once they leave the nest. The tracking is part of MSU's continuing efforts to help the species recover. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
One of the four peregrine falcons banded by the researchers from MSU and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The entire banding process takes 10-15 minutes with the expected squawking and squirming from the chicks. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
A walk along campus is always nice in the sun, especially when strolling by the Resilient Oak, an approximately 400-year-old tree that remains a campus anchor. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
