By: Henry Mochida, Beth Brauer
Michigan State University held its second annual Juneteenth Celebration on Friday, June 17, at the Breslin Center. The evening’s programming included jazz performances by the College of Music, a variety of guest speakers, including keynote speaker Professor of English Julian Chambliss, in the College of Arts and Letters, whose speech “Not Only Darkness” focused on this year’s central theme of Afrofuturism.

The event drew approximately 500 attendees and 23 vendors who participated in the Black Wall Street business exhibition.
