Celebrate Halloween as Beaumont Tower comes to life with music and visuals during "The Ringing 3: Music for All Hallows Eve" set for 8 p.m. Oct 29. This event is free and open to the public, and no ticket is required.
University carillonist Jon Lehrer will be joined by theater Professor Alison Dobbins for a program of eerie favorites, from Saint‑Saëns to modern film scores, accompanied by large-scale animated imagery.
The program will unfold through eight themed chapters, from "Night Falls" and "Undead Rising" to "Back to Life" and "Last Dance," accompanied by projected visuals that transform Beaumont Tower into a striking canvas of light and animation.
Audiences will encounter haunting and familiar melodies from works such as "The Bells of Notre Dame," Mozart’s "Lacrimosa," Saint-Saëns’ "Danse macabre" and selections from films "Pan’s Labyrinth" and "Howl’s Moving Castle" as well as the whimsical "Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."
Original carillon works and other unexpected musical discoveries fill the bells of Beaumont Tower’s 49-bell carillon with sounds that are mysterious, imaginative, eerie and fun, while large-scale projections created by students and professionals in animation and special effects bring each chapter to life.
