MSU recognizes National Hispanic Heritage Month annually in celebration of the accomplishments of the MSU Hispanic and Latine communities. Spartans can find resources through various channels at MSU, including Chicano/Latino Faculty, Staff, Specialist and Graduate Student Association; Chicano/Latino Studies; College Assistance Migrant Program; Culturas de las Razas Unidas, or CRU; affiliate organizations; the Office for Inclusive Excellence and Impact; the Office of Multicultural Enrichment and Advocacy and more.

Michigan State University recognizes National Hispanic Heritage Month, or NHHM, each year to honor the histories and achievements of Hispanic and Latine communities along with their vast contributions in the United States. It is also a time to acknowledge and support the MSU Hispanic and Latine communities on campus and beyond. Across campus, MSU students, staff, faculty and affiliated groups have organized events that exhibit cultural pride and promote Hispanic/Latine voices and experiences. A cornerstone of this month’s celebrations is CRU’s 17th Annual Brown Pride. This community resource fair is open to the entire MSU campus community and will feature student performances, giveaways, games, cultural celebration and more. Brown Pride serves as a celebration of the rich cultural mosaic that makes up the Hispanic and Latine American experience and honors the roots and contributions these communities have made not only on MSU’s campus but throughout the world. Beyond the annual Brown Pride fair, key events during this year’s NHHM celebration include a special menu by Eat at State in Akers Hall and a presentation on Texan labor migration and its musical community in the Midwest by Richard Cruz Davila from the Julian Samora Research Institute.
