Spartans across the globe came together to make Give Green Day 2026 another extraordinary success, raising a tentative $6,498,539 from more than 6,298 gifts during Michigan State University’s annual 24-hour celebration of philanthropy.
Fueled by strong participation from alumni, donors, faculty, staff, students and friends, this year’s event generated record-breaking support for scholarships, student programs, academic initiatives and campus priorities.
“Give Green Day is a powerful reminder of what makes Michigan State special,” said MSU President Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Ph.D. “When Spartans come together with purpose, the impact is extraordinary. Each gift helps open doors for students, advance discovery and strengthen the work our faculty and staff are doing to build a brighter future for our state and the world.”
Throughout the day, colleges, programs and student initiatives rallied their communities through friendly competition on the Give Green Day leaderboard, driving engagement across campus and among Spartan supporters worldwide. Many gifts were amplified through challenge funds and matching opportunities designed to maximize participation and impact.
A key partner in those efforts was MSU Federal Credit Union, whose sponsorship of multiple challenges helped inspire additional giving and encouraged even more Spartans to take part.
“Give Green Day captures the collective spirit of Spartan philanthropy,” said Kim Tobin, vice president for University Advancement at MSU. “The excitement across campus and around the world — from the leaderboard competitions to the challenge gifts — shows what’s possible when this community comes together. We are deeply grateful to every donor who chose to participate and invest in the future of Michigan State. Every gift, of every size, is a statement: We believe in MSU.”
Give Green Day supports initiatives across the university and helps advance Uncommon Will, Far Better World, Michigan State’s comprehensive fundraising campaign focused on expanding opportunity for students, accelerating research and innovation, and strengthening the university’s global impact.
Final totals will be announced in the coming weeks once all gifts have been fully processed and reconciled.
Give Green Day is Michigan State University’s annual day of giving, inviting Spartans everywhere to support the causes and programs that matter most to them and help create a far better world.
