Have a look at the new events coming to MSU this week:

Monday, Feb. 16

  • Lunar New Year Cinematic Celebration- Come watch "The Joy Luck Club," while honoring Asian traditions through cuisine and crafts.

Tuesday, Feb 17

  • Men's basketball vs. UCLA- See the MSU Spartans face off against UCLA at the Breslin Center.

Wednesday, Feb. 18

  • Book Talk Series: African American Women's Scholars on Race, Racism and Living Black in American- Come hear LaShawn Harris talk about her book Tell Her Story: Eleanor Bumpurs and the Police Killing that Galvanized New York City (2025).
  • Women's basketball vs. Northwestern- Watch the Spartan women’s basketball team go up against Northwestern.

Thursday, Feb. 19

  • Made in Detroit: Carl Craig and Rodney Whitaker in Conversation- Join electronic music artist Carl Craig and jazz bassist, composer and educator Rodney Whitaker for an in-depth conversation on creativity, improvisation and artistic practice.
  • Third Thursday crafting meet up- Explore different crafts, share ideas and collaborate in the makerspace flex space classroom.
  • Sally: A Solo Play- Written by MSU alumni Sandra Seaton, the one-woman play centers on Sally Hemings, illuminating a pivotal moment in her life while also reflecting on the experiences that shaped her. At Wharton Center from Feb. 19 to 21.

Friday, Feb. 20

  • JMC 4th annual black history month symposium- The keynote speaker will be the honorable Conrad Mallet Jr., the first African American to serve as chief justice on the Michigan Supreme Court and former deputy mayor for the city of Detroit.
  • Wrestling vs. Central Michigan- At Jenison Field House.
  • Hockey vs. Notre Dame- At Munn Ice Arena.
  • MSU professors of Jazz: Artist faculty recital- Hear the music performed by the professors of jazz in Murray Hall.

Saturday, Feb. 21

  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in Concert- Relive the magic and experience the third installment of Harry Potter live.
  • Funn at Munn- Let loose with some ice skating at the Munn Ice Arena with your fellow Spartans.
  • Gymnastics vs. Ohio State- Come watch our gymnastics team face off against the Ohio State Buckeye’s at Jenison Field House.
  • Powwow of Love- Held at IM East, the theme is “Growing in Community: The Three Sisters Thrive Together.”

Sunday, Feb. 22

  • SpARTan Wellness: Mindful Stitching- Slow down and relax with some stitching at the Broad Art Museum.
  • Lunar New Year Celebration Concert- Join the College of Music for the fifth annual Lunar New Year Celebration Concert with a special guest performance by renowned Chinese musician Dr. Haiqiong Deng.
