Hundreds gathered at the fifth annual
MSU Juneteenth Commemorative Celebration on June 12, at the Multicultural Center. This new location is a shared community space that opened earlier in 2025.
The program was emceed by MSU alum and violinist Rodney Page, and included a performance of 'Lift Every Voice and Sing' by Maliah Cook, a Juneteenth spotlight featuring Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and Dean of the Graduate School Pero Dagbovie, gospel music by Gregory D and Company, line dancing with Dancing with the Nordés and more!
An addition to this year’s event was the Black Association of Storytellers, who work to perpetuate the traditions of Black storytelling, offering educational stories on Juneteenth, Idlewild Michigan and Black Wall Street.
The Juneteenth Celebration drew over 600 attendees and more than 40 vendors who participated in the Black Wall Street Vendor Fair.
