When it comes to painting masterpieces on walls at MSU, Jessica Woolum’s accomplishments and skills are legendary. With brushes, paint, and artistic skills, Woolum patiently gives walls new color and new life. Jessie is a painter in the Infrastructure Planning and Facilities Paint department.
Asked how she chose a career in giving walls new shades of décor, she points to her family for inspiration and guidance. “My father was a painter and was a member of the IUPAT Painters Local 845 in Lansing, and that’s where my painting journey began.” In the past seven years, Woolum has painted hundreds of offices, public areas and suites across campus.
“Jessica is a very talented painter and is a pleasure to work with,” said her supervisor, Jason Wonch. “She pays great attention to details and is always willing to help others.”
Woolum receives great satisfaction bringing clients’ visions to life. Once, a graphic designer wanted her office walls to be pink, blue, yellow and white. To this day, people tell her they love it.
“Jessica is amazing!” said Beth Clarke from MSU’s Department of Radiology. “She was so nice and worked with us during the color consultation for our walls.
“It feels so good to have the walls freshly painted, and they look great!”
