Broad College of Business launches professional online MBA format

By: Kelly Ulrich

Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business is proud to announce the launch of its new Professional Online MBA format, designed to deliver the flexibility today’s working professionals need while providing the same high-quality education that defines the Broad MBA.

“The world of business is in a state of constant evolution. Technologies like AI are changing how we work, global supply chains are more complex than ever, and the need for adaptable, ethical leadership has never been greater,” said Wayne Hutchison, assistant dean of MBA programs. “At the Broad College of Business, we understand that to prepare professionals for this dynamic landscape, we must continue to evolve. Our new Professional Online MBA makes the power of a Broad MBA accessible to ambitious professionals everywhere, allowing them to learn at their own pace.”

The Broad College’s MBA programs have consistently earned recognition among the best in the nation and beyond. Recent rankings include:

  • #1 in General Management — U.S. News & World Report Best Online Master’s in Business Programs (2025)
  • #1 Full-Time MBA for Best Value for Money in the Big Ten — Financial Times (2024)
  • #5 among public universities – U.S. News & World Report Best Online Master’s in Business Programs (2025)
  • #9 Executive MBA among U.S. public programs — Financial Times (2024)

A flexible, high-impact MBA with career-advancing results

The Professional Online MBA is designed with flexibility at its core. Students can choose to complete the 42-credit program in as little as 19 months or extend their studies at a custom pace to fit their schedules. Courses are delivered in focused 7-week modules, with optional weekly live sessions to connect with faculty and peers.

Unlike traditional programs, no travel is required. This ensures that students can balance career, personal life, and education seamlessly while still benefiting from Broad’s globally recognized curriculum and renowned faculty.

Graduates of Broad’s MBA programs have consistently achieved measurable career growth, and the Professional Online MBA is no exception. Within three years of graduation, students see an average 47% increase in salary, and 42% secure a promotion or new job before completing the program.

For decades, the Broad College has served as a vital engine for Michigan’s economic growth, preparing business leaders through its Full-Time MBA and Executive MBA programs. The new Professional Online MBA expands this impact, bringing MSU’s tradition of excellence to professionals across the state and around the world.

“Our alumni are leaders in every industry, and this program ensures even more professionals can benefit from a Broad MBA,” Hutchison said. “We’re helping individuals strengthen their careers while also contributing to the growth and innovation of Michigan’s business community and beyond.”
