MSU alum, educator and musician Rodney Page performs at MSU’s fifth annual Juneteenth Commemorative Celebration. The event, themed “A Juneteenth Renaissance: Bridging Freedom’s Legacy and Tomorrow’s Vision,” celebrated and recognized past and contemporary artists, scientists and advocates who work tirelessly to center Black excellence in the fabric of American society and culture. Activities included educational opportunities, a vendor fair of local businesses and entertainment events like gospel singing, dancing, storytelling and more. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.

The sounds of a gentle waterfall bring a deep sense of tranquility to the Radiology Healing Gardens. The gardens, located near the Radiology Building, were established by E. James Potchen, University Distinguished Professor and chair emeritus of the Department of Radiology, to reduce stress and sooth the senses. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
Buttons celebrate 100 years of the MSU Union at the centennial celebration for the building on June 12. Kicking off a year of events, the celebration featured storytelling, historical exhibits, kids’ activities, giveaways and more, commemorating the legacy of one of MSU’s most iconic landmarks. Spartans enjoy a scoop of MSU Dairy Store ice cream at the MSU Union centennial celebration. To commemorate the event, the MSU Dairy Store created a custom ice cream flavor, Centennial Celebration Cookie Jar — cake batter ice cream with cake chunks, fudge ripple, cookie dough and Oreo pieces.
