Two MSU students named semi-finalist and finalist for international Rhodes Scholarships

One Michigan State University student has been named a semi-finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship for India, and another student has been named a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship for Malaysia.

The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest and perhaps most prestigious international scholarship program, enabling outstanding young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford. The Rhodes Scholarship is offered in 25 constituencies which represent over 60 countries. 


Veona Cutinho is a semi-finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship for India. She is an Honors College senior majoring in Genomics and Molecular Genetics in the College of Natural Science. Cutinho is from Shimoga, India and graduated from Stonehill International School in Bangalore, India.

Nur Aminah Benti Halim is a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship for Malaysia. Halim is a senior majoring in Statistics in the College of Natural Science, and Economics in the College of Social Science. She is from Klang, Malaysia and graduated from Taylor’s Lakeside Campus in Subang Jaya, Malaysia.
