Michigan State University’s Xiaobo Tan was elected to be the next editor-in-chief for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers/American Society of Mechanical Engineers Transactions on Mechatronics, or TMECH.
The scope of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics spans all practical aspects of the theory and methods of mechatronics, the synergetic integration of mechanical engineering with electronic and intelligent computer control in the design and manufacture of industrial products and processes. With nearly 3000 annual submissions, the journal ranks in the first quartile within each of the categories of Automation and Control Systems, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
“I am deeply honored to be elected to this position,” said Tan. “As the next editor-in-chief, I am excited about the opportunity to work with my colleagues and peers to further propel the journal and the field to the next level of excellence.”
Tan is an MSU Research Foundation Professor and the Richard M. Hong Endowed Chair in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He received MSU’s prestigious William J. Beal Outstanding Faculty Award in 2023. He is also a Fellow of IEEE and ASME.
Tan will begin his term in January 2026.
