Impact 89FM | WDBM-FM, MSU's student-run radio station and media organization, is very excited to announce that it has been named the National College Radio Station of the Year in the Pinnacle Awards presented by the College Media Association. This is Impact 89FM's second time winning the award. The radio station previously received the honor in 2021. The organization has also been recognized with the first-place award for the National College Broadcast Station Website of the Year.
Additionally, the radio station received Pinnacle Awards in individual categories:
- Second Place — College Media Association: Best Game Story Michigan State football outlasts Nebraska on Senior Day, snaps six-game losing streak
- Second Place — Best Audio Promo/PSA Pity Party
- Third Place — Best Audio Talk/Entertainment Program Exposure: State of Fifths
- Honorable Mention — Best Audio Newscast The State 3/05/24
The awards were presented at the Fall National College Media Convention in New Orleans from Oct. 30–Nov. 2, 2024.
Impact 89FM also had award winners in the National Student Production Awards presented by College Broadcasters Inc.

- First Place — Best Regularly Scheduled Entertainment Program Exposure: State of Fifths
- Second Place — Best Social Media Presence Impact 89FM Social Media
- Fourth Place — Best Hard News Reporting MSU Elects Dr. Kevin Guskiewicz as New President
- Fourth Place — Best Feature News Reporting Moka & Co. is the First Yemeni Coffee Shop in the Greater Lansing Area
- Fourth Place — Best Special Broadcast Behind the Mics: The First Broadcast: February 24, 1989
- Fourth Place — Best Live Production (Video) The Basement: Margaux and the Grumpees
The awards were presented at the National Student Media Convention in Seattle on Oct. 26, 2024.
