Brandon Garibaldi, a recent graduate of MSU College of Law, and veteran of the United States Army recently became an Assistant District Attorney for the Bronx District Attorney’s Office in Bronx County, NY. With a goal of becoming a prosecutor, Brandon chose this position to seek justice on behalf of the crime victims in Bronx County.
My name is Brandon Garibaldi, and I am an alumnus of Michigan State University's College of Law, graduating as part of the Class of 2024. My educational journey began at Arizona State University, where I completed my undergraduate studies before transitioning into the legal field. My background is enriched by my service as a veteran of the United States Army, where I was stationed at Fort Drum, NY, and deployed to Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division in 2003. These diverse experiences have shaped my career aspirations and commitment to public service.
One of the most significant influences on my legal career was the academic environment at MSU Law. The school's distinguished academic reputation, coupled with its robust experiential training programs and law clinics, drew me to it. I was particularly impressed by the opportunities for hands-on learning and real-world application of legal principles, which are crucial for developing practical skills and understanding the complexities of legal practice.
Currently, I serve as an assistant district attorney for the Bronx District Attorney’s Office in Bronx County, NY. This role is the culmination of a long-standing career goal. As an ADA, I am in a training program that includes lectures on criminal court practice, professional responsibility, and observation of court proceedings. This comprehensive training is designed to prepare me to handle the demanding and nuanced responsibilities of prosecutorial work.
My decision to apply for the position of ADA was driven by a deep-seated desire to seek justice for crime victims and contribute to the community in a meaningful way. My career path has always been oriented towards public service. Before joining the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, I served as a police officer with the New York City Police Department. This followed my military service, which instilled in me a strong sense of duty and a commitment to serving others. The role of a prosecutor aligns perfectly with my career objectives and my passion for public interest law.
The decision to pursue a legal degree crystallized during my time as a police officer. I initially considered law as a second career, but the inspiration to fully commit to this path came from shadowing my cousin, an attorney specializing in family law. Observing him advocate fervently for his clients left a lasting impression on me. His dedication and the impact he made on his clients’ lives motivated me to follow in his footsteps and seek a career in law.
In my current position, I aspire to make a significant impact on the community I serve. My goal is to contribute to making the Bronx a safer place for all its residents. I am dedicated to protecting those who have been victimized and providing closure for families during their most challenging times. This commitment is grounded in my broader objective to enhance community safety and justice, which has been the cornerstone of my career in public service.
