Students make their mark by signing their names on the MSU Rock. The Rock is a tradition that dates back to 1873, when it was given as a gift by the graduating class. Functioning as a painted billboard for students to inscribe messages, advertise events and more, it is a vibrant sign of life on campus that gets repainted almost every single day.  Photo by Derrick L. Turner.

After a quiet summer, there’s no greater sound than the rolling of laundry carts, the cheers of “Go Green! Go White!” and the buzzing excitement of students and families flocking to residence halls for move-in day. Welcome home, Spartans! Photo by Derrick L. Turner.

For students looking to get involved on campus, Sparticipation, part of the Fall Welcome Spartan Spectacular, is a treasure trove of opportunities. Sponsored by the Office of Spartan Experiences, Sparticipation brings together more than 500 student organizations on IM East Field during Fall Welcome, offering students a unique way to explore campus opportunities.
