As Beaumont Tower’s bells chime on the first day of classes, we hope that Spartans are inspired and energized by the sounds of the campus icon. Whether it’s your first day or last first day at MSU, you’ve got this. We’re eager to be a part of all the great things you accomplish this semester! Photo by Derrick L. Turner.

A monarch butterfly takes advantage of blooms in a campus garden, one of several pollination initiatives led by Sustainable Spartans, students of RISE, the Fisheries and Wildlife Club, IPF and the Office of Sustainability to increase native plants and pollinator habitats across campus. Students seeking attire for interviews, career fairs and professional events can check out the newly-opened Career Closet, hosted by the MSU Career Services Network and ASMSU. The Career Closet, located in Student Services, offers a boutique-like atmosphere and provides students with free new and gently used business attire, helping them feel confident and well dressed as they seek new career opportunities. Deans and distinguished faculty gathered at Fall Convocation, welcoming new students and imparting words of wisdom for the beginning of their academic journeys at MSU. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
With more than 11,000 first-year students joining the MSU community, it’s not surprising that our favorite mascot found Fall Convocation to be the perfect place to make 11,000 new friends. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
New Spartans took the opportunity to perfect their cornhole skills ahead of the first home football game on Sept. 1 during an international student welcome event, hosted by the Office for International Students and Scholars. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.

While no student’s experience coming to MSU and moving into the residence halls is the same, one thing remains constant — the iconic green laundry carts used to swiftly bring belongings to their new homes. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
Though the hustle and bustle of move-in can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming, there’s no better feeling than finally being on campus with your fellow Spartans. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
