Former director of the W.J. Beal Botanical Garden Frank Telewski joined interim director Alan Prather at this year’s Arbor Day celebration. The annual celebration recognized Telewski’s career and contributions to MSU, as well as the 150th anniversary of the garden. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.

As spring 2023 graduates head off to their next big opportunities, we can’t wait to see how they’ll change the world for the better. Undergraduate ceremonies take place May 5-7, and advanced degree ceremonies will be held May 4, 5, 12 and 13. For more information, visit the commencement website. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
It’s not goodbye, just “see you later,” as move-out begins in campus residence halls. Have a great summer, Spartans! Photo by Derrick L. Turner.

We’re reminded it wouldn’t be Michigan weather without a little unpredictability as snow fell on campus on April 25. Hopefully students wishing for one more snow day in the last week of classes weren’t too disappointed that it quickly melted. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
Students use a monitor to present research for BS 172, Organismal and Population Biology Laboratory, in the STEM Teaching and Research Facility, a sustainable and accessible alternative to traditionally printed posters. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
To celebrate Arbor Day as well as the end of the semester, succulents were available for students to take home at the East Neighborhood end-of-semester celebration. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
As part of Take Your Child to Work Day, detective Martha Hausbeck gave junior Spartans a glimpse of what it’s like to work at the Department of Police and Public Safety. Families were able to tour the department, get a closer look at police vehicles, see a K9 demonstration and meet some of the officers. Organized by the MSU WorkLife Office, this year’s Take Your Child to Work Day included 40 events across campus for children and their families to explore, showcasing all the different units and careers that MSU has to offer.
