2020 Olympian Tori Franklin will once again represent Team USA next month at the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 after a second-place finish in the triple jump Saturday, as six current or former Michigan State athletes completed action this weekend between the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships and the Bell Canadian Track and Field Championships.

Franklin, who was on the MSU Track and Field team from 2011-2015, competed on Saturday afternoon at Hayward Field in Eugene, posting a 14.59 meter, season-best mark on her fourth attempt in the women's triple jump, finishing runner-up to Keturah Orji and securing one of three spots on Team USA for July's World Championships.

Franklin and Team USA will compete at the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 from July 15-24 at Hayward Field.

Five other current or former Spartans competed over the weekend. Sophia Franklin opened up competition for the Spartan contingent on Friday night, finishing tied for 14th in the women's pole vault after being one of four competitors to no-height the 4.35 meter bar.

Opal Jackson was the lone Spartan in the USATF U20 Championships, also taking place at Hayward Field, as she competed in the Green and White for the first time after being unattached during the spring. Jackson was able to take fifth in the women's shot put, registering a 14.67m mark on her first attempt.

At the Canadian U20 Championships in Langley, B.C., Kate Stewart-Barnett ran a 4:29.45 time in the women's 1500 meter preliminaries, finishing second in heat two on Friday night. In Saturday's finals, Stewart-Barnett posted a time of 4:34.56 to place sixth, missing out on a chance to compete at the World Athletics U20 Championships Cali22.

Sunday's events at the USATF Championships featured two more Spartans, as Jenna Magness ran a 16:13.85 time to place 18th in the women's 5,000 meters, while Morgan Beadlescomb ran a time of 13:24.20 in the men's 5,000 meters to finish in ninth place.
