Spartan Employee Spotlight – Police and Public Safety

By: Melody Kindraka, Dana Whyte

Members of the Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety work to ensure the safety and security of everyone on the East Lansing campus, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department aims to meet the dynamic public safety needs of students, faculty, staff and visitors so that all feel safe and at home.

When MSU hosts a home football game, the department is responsible for nearly all aspects of campus operations. It is a large undertaking, with members assigned to specific roles to ensure a safe and fun day for the tens of thousands of fans and visitors in the area.
