Tori Franklin becomes first American woman to medal in triple jump at World Athletic Championships

The former Spartan All-American takes home the bronze medal.

Former Spartan track and field athlete Tori Franklin became the first American woman to medal in the triple jump, capturing the bronze medal at the World Athletic Championships at Hayward Stadium in Eugene, Oregon.

With a season-best jump of 14.72m, Franklin held third place after an opening jump of 14.53m. Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela won the gold with a jump of 15.47m, while Shanieka Ricketts of Jamaica captured the silver medal with a distance of 14.89m.
