Student and Campus Experience

The week in photos: July 5–10, 2022

By: Kelsie Lane

Summer on campus often sees many students, faculty and staff heading out into the world and away from MSU, but campus remains quite active. This edition of the Week in Photos takes a closer look at some of the ways Spartans spend their summer days (and nights) on campus.

For families considering attending MSU, there’s no better way to get a first impression than touring campus with an expert student ambassador. Those interested in touring MSU can check out the Office of Admissions website to explore a wealth of visit options. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.

Listeners gathered near Beaumont Tower and across campus to hear the ringing of the Beaumont Tower carillon during the 25th Annual Muelder Carillon Concert Series. The free series is open to the public and occurs each Wednesday night through early August. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
Though Beaumont Tower’s chimes travel far across campus, plenty of Spartans gathered near the tower to enjoy the concert. Each week, the series brings a different musician to Beaumont Tower to play a variety of selections ranging from classical to contemporary. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
The dog days of summer have officially arrived, and there’s no better way to enjoy them than long walks on campus with a furry friend. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
Though we tend to think of summers in East Lansing as peaceful and quiet, there’s still plenty of things to do on and off campus. Photo by Jacob Templin-Fulton.

A trio of grads jump for joy in front of Beaumont Tower. Completed in 1929, the tower has been a favorite spot for graduates to celebrate their accomplishments for 93 years. John Beaumont even included several items that celebrated his 1882 graduation within the tower’s cornerstone. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
An Infrastructure, Planning and Facilities crewmember helps keep campus spiffy by clearing walkways of dirt and debris. With over 100 miles of sidewalks on campus, that’s no small feat! Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
