Highlighted by five returning All-Americans, the Michigan State track and field team is set to bring eight Spartans to the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships this week in Eugene, Oregon.
 
Starting Wednesday, June 8 and running through Saturday, June 11 at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field, the Spartans bring a total five men and three women qualifiers to the NCAA Championships.
 
The MSU women at the NCAA Championships will look to earn the program's first outdoor national champion since Leah O'Connor in the 2014 finals for the women's 3000m steeplechase, while the men seek the Green and White's first men's title since Bob Steele won the 440-yard hurdles in 1967.

"We're looking forward to competing this weekend at the national championships," said Director of Track & Field Lisa Breznau. "This group has consistently put in the work and evolved. They are all ready to go."
 
2021 First Team All-Americans Morgan Beadlescomb, Sophia Franklin and Jenna Magness are all looking to go out on top this season after placing top-8 last year in Eugene, while 2021 Second Team All-Americans Heath Baldwin (with Michigan) and Trevor Stephenson will both try to record top-8 finishes and finally reach First Team distinction. Three Spartans will also look to become NCAA All-Americans for the first time in the form of Makayla Perez, John Petruno and 2022 Big Ten Decathlon champion Ryan Talbot.
