The WKAR master control room is where media magic happens. Rick Thomas,  engineer, Dave Mann, director of broadcast technology, and Dan Drolett, master control operator, make sure that WKAR-TV broadcasts go off without a hitch. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
MSU doctoral candidate Kyle Chong and his canine friend Archer make the most of a snowy day. With that vertical leap, we’re sensing Zeke the Wonderdog has some competition to look out for. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.

Whether metaphorically or literally, through life or simply snow, Spartans forge their own paths. Photo by Nick Schrader.
Serendipity, an Arabian horse, gets a little nosey with the camera at the MSU Horse Teaching and Research Center. The Horse Teaching and Research Center, one of the seven South Campus Animal Farms, boasts one of the oldest continuous Arabian horse breeding programs in the United States. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
Light radiates from the MSU Main Library windows, a beacon to knowledge-seekers across campus. The library is currently offering KN-95 masks to all MSU staff and students, available for pick-up at the circulation desk. Photo by Nick Schrader.
Snowfall gently caps the limestone pillar standing at the Abbot and Grand River entrance of campus, created by Samuel Cashwan. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
A group of Spartans add a few snow angels to MSU’s wintry landscape. Though often times enduring a Michigan winter seems more trouble than it’s worth, moments of snowy fun make it all worthwhile. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
Though midwinter chills have set in outside, sorghum leaves in Federica Brandizzi’s lab are kept cozy in a climate-controlled greenhouse. Brandizzi, MSU Foundation Professor of plant biology, and her team are working on technology to make plants more productive, and Brandizzi’s work with sorghum earned her the MSU Innovation Center’s Innovator of the Year award. Photo by Nick Schrader.
COVID-19 booster vaccines get a “thumbs up” from this Spartan student. While helping keep the MSU community safe is incentive enough to get vaccinated, a cool sticker is certainly a nice bonus. For the most up-to-date information on MSU’s vaccination requirements, check out the Together We Will website. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
