State Room Restaurant honored for wine program

The State Room Restaurant has been honored for its outstanding wine program in Wine Spectator’s 2021 Restaurant Awards. For 16 consecutive years, the team is proud to have received the Best of Award of Excellence.

This year, the State Room was one of 1,141 restaurants that earned the Best of Excellence Award. In addition, they are among only 14 restaurants in Michigan to receive an award and the only recipient in the Greater Lansing area.

Recipients at this level offer a wine list that is appropriate for the cuisine and typically offer 300 or more options across wine territories with significant vintage depth and regional breadth.

Wine Spectator began its program to recognize the world’s best wine lists in 1981. The annual program recognizes restaurants around the world as the top destinations for wine lovers. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 2,900 restaurants earned awards from Wine Spectator in 2021.

“American restaurants are back in business, as patrons are eagerly returning to dining rooms across the nation,” said Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher at Wine Spectator. “In this year’s Restaurant Awards issue, we reflect on how restaurateurs navigated this incredibly difficult period, and look ahead, with every indication that the coming year will be one of the most promising in decades for an industry we all love. It’s been a long road back, and it feels wonderful to celebrate restaurants and all they bring to the world of wine.”
