Michigan State junior Jenna Magness was named USTFCCCA Great Lake Region Track Athlete of the Year on Thursday.
She is the first Spartan to win the honor since Leah O'Connor captured the title in 2015. O'Connor also was honored during the 2013 season. Tori Franklin and former Spartan thrower Beth Rohl earned the Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year award in 2013 and 2011, respectively.
