There’s nothing better than the feeling of stepping on a really crunchy leaf. A trek through Baker Woodlot provides the perfect opportunity. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
All aboard! Next stop: Progress. MSU unveiled a new autonomous bus that will serve students, staff and faculty beginning early 2022. Though a driver will be present at all times as a safety precaution, the bus can operate without any human interaction, and will be used to transport Spartans from the MSU Auditorium to the MSU Commuter Lot. Beaumont Tower is neatly framed by gingko leaves, adding a cheerful lemon-lime hue to our fall palette. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
Sending love to the city we call home is always in season. Leaves adorn a City of East Lansing manhole cover — some appear to have found just the right position atop the tree in the city’s emblem. Photo by Lisa Mulcrone.

The trees are doing their best to obscure it, but Marshall-Adams Hall can’t help but stand out. Built in 1902, Marshall-Adams Hall, originally known as the Bacteriology Lab, earned its claim to fame as the first free-standing building dedicated to the teaching and research of bacteriology in the nation.

Though bacteriology has long since evolved into the departments of Microbiology and Public Health and the colleges of Natural Science, Human Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine, the building, housing the Department of Economics, still operates as a hub for teaching and research. Leaves gently scatter across the ground outside Olds Hall. Autumn often feels like the shortest season of the year, but we’re doing our best to appreciate it while it’s here. Photo by Nick Schrader.
We’re not the only ones obsessing over autumn on campus. MSU student Ha Neul Kim seized the opportunity to snap a few pictures of the lively foliage outside Berkey Hall. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
A campus squirrel strikes a pose for the camera. When you’re this cute and fluffy you have to be prepared to deal with adoring fans asking for pictures at any moment. Photo by Nick Schrader.
A few dedicated basketball fans head to the Izzone campout on an autumn evening. As the fiercest student section in the Big Ten, the Izzone is always ready to cheer on the Spartans to victory. Photo by Derrick L. Turner.
A campus tree shows off a full spectrum of autumn hues. Why be just one color when you can embody them all? Photo by Lisa Mulcrone.
