Planting a tree for Arbor Day? Groundbreaking. This Chinkapin oak tree, planted next to Linton Hall, was raised from an acorn at Beaumont Nursery. The nursery, run by MSU Infrastructure, Planning and Facilities, has been in operation on campus for more than 50 years. Every tree planted on campus is raised by or cared for by the nursery before it goes into the ground. Photo by Nick Schrader.
Jerry Wahl, campus arborist, continued the Arbor Day celebration by passing out trees and tree plugs to attendees of the tree planting. Wahl is continuing the legacy of MSU’s campus arboretum by keeping MSU’s trees healthy and helping to plant hundreds of trees on campus each year. Photo by Nick Schrader.
