Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center to reopen April 19

By: Leah Ball

On behalf of Michigan State University, the Culinary Services department announces that Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center will reopen Monday, April 19, with reduced capacity and enhanced cleaning and safety measures in place.

Since March 2020, the hotel and conference center has been temporarily closed to the public. However, the hotel served as a quarantine and isolation unit on campus to help keep MSU students safe. Quarantine and isolation housing relocated to Hubbard Hall in early April. The facility will undergo professional cleaning before reopening.

“This past year has been a challenge for the MSU community during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are excited to reopen, and our dedicated team remains committed to keeping our guests and employees safe,” said Rebecca Selesky, executive director of MSU Culinary Services. “For more than 70 years, the Kellogg Center has welcomed guests to campus. Our team looks forward to serving guests again as we begin accommodating overnight stays, meetings, special events and providing food service.”

SAFETY AND CLEAN PLEDGE

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, guests can expect to see additional safety measures, including enhanced cleaning in guest rooms, public spaces and the restaurant. Team members will be disinfecting all high-touch surfaces, providing hand sanitizer stations in all public spaces, implementing traffic flow measures and physical distancing reminders outlined in the MSU and Division of Residential and Hospitality Services preventative measures. Please visit kelloggcenter.com to view the safety requirements in place.

HOTEL AND CONFERENCE CENTER SERVICES

The hotel will resume taking room reservations Monday, April 19. For more information or to make a reservation, please visit kelloggcenter.com/rooms or call the front desk at 517-432-4000. Guests can make reservations online, and minimal-contact service has been set up for guests to check in, obtain keys and check out.

STATE ROOM RESTAURANT DINE-IN SERVICE

The State Room Restaurant will pause indoor restaurant service to comply with recommendations from the State of Michigan to temporarily suspend indoor dining. Guests with current reservations for the week of April 20 have been contacted regarding the transition.

Additionally, minor adjustments have been made to the menu the week of April 20. When the restaurant reopens on April 20, guests are invited to dine outdoors on the East Patio behind the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center or to enjoy curbside takeout service. Reservations are required; services will be offered Tuesday-Saturday, 4-8 p.m. To make a reservation or place a curbside order, go to go.msu.edu/stateroom or call 517-432-5049.

SALES AND CONFERENCE SERVICES

The sales and conference services department continues to book future meetings, events and weddings. For more information, please email kcsales@kelloggcenter.com, call 517-432-3086 or visit kelloggcenter.com/meetings.

“Our team looks forward to sharing campus traditions, memorable events, culinary excellence, and outstanding Spartan experiences with guests again,” noted Bradley Benton, Kellogg hotel rooms division manager. “We are committed to ensuring your safety and comfort, now more than ever. The changes we have made prioritize guest and team member well being. Whether you’re arranging a visit, organizing an event, or experiencing our delectable cuisine, we are eager to welcome you back to the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.”

Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center thanks you in advance for your efforts to protect yourself and other members of the MSU community. They are committed to maintaining the highest safety and cleanliness standards in their facilities and for all guests.
