The W. J. Beal Botanical Garden is beautiful in every season. Reflecting the philosophy of a land-grant institution, the garden is an outdoor laboratory engaged in teaching, collection development, research, conservation and public service. "Beneath the pines we'll gather..." The grove of trees between Munn Arena and Demonstration Hall was planted by forestry professor Frank Sanford to stop erosion in 1913.
