The MSU Student Organic Farm is offering a 10-week Winter CSA Share, which will run from Jan. 14 through March 18. This is a great option for individuals and households looking for a safe way to access fresh produce as the farm share is offered as a no-contact, drive-through service. Each week, members can expect fresh produce from hoop houses like spinach, salad greens, radishes, scallions, kale, chard and more. There will also be storage crops such as onions, garlic, carrots, beets and other root vegetables. Eggs, meat and honey will also be available on their online store.
CSA, or community supported agriculture, is a model of farming and food distribution where members support the farm by paying a set amount for a full season of fresh, local organic food. The MSU Student Organic Farm is one of the few farms in the country offering a year-round CSA program, and the first of its kind in Michigan. Purchasing a share directly supports the farm and its students throughout the growing season.

The MSU Student Organic Farm was started in 1999 by a group of MSU students to provide a place where students could come and volunteer, work, visit and have input on the development of the land and farm. As a result of the vision and hard work of many, the farm has flourished. Over the years the farm has developed into a place where many different groups are able to engage with growing food and creating learning opportunities through farming. Though many farm activities have been altered or cancelled in 2020 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, production continues with increased safety measures in order to continue life sustaining activities in the sector of Food and Agriculture.
