Deb McCullough: Controlling the pests (EDIT NEEDED)

Deb McCullough is a professor in the Department of Entomology. She works with the Department of Forestry, as well. Learn more about McCullough and other applications for the study of entomology here.

Our lab’s goal is to learn about the ecology and biology of non-native invasive insect pests, like emerald ash borer, to develop ways to manage them and keep forests healthy.

We have a diverse array of different kinds of people. There are research technicians that work with me and have for a few years now. We have graduate students who are working on different projects, individual projects of their own.

Then, we have some undergraduates that help out wherever we need them, they help with the trapping that we do around the state, they help in the lab, they help us out in the forest. It’s really cool to be a part of.

We aim to learn enough about the ecology and the biology of some of these pests, particularly the non-native insects, so that we can come up with ways to manage them and reduce some of the damage that they cause.

Basically, to keep forests healthy.
