MSU suspends classes on January 30 due to weather

Update as of Jan. 29, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.: MSU switching to modified operations. Visit https://msu.edu/emergency/ for information.

Michigan State University is suspending classes beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30 for all locations due to anticipated and sustained severe wind chills below -20 degrees F.

University operations will be maintained. Full-time faculty and staff will report to work unless prior arrangements have been made with supervisors.

Students, faculty and staff should continue to check www.msu.edu for updates.

For students:

  • Instructors will be responsible for making suitable arrangements regarding missed class meetings and handling other academic responsibilities.
  • While online instruction may continue, faculty will not penalize students who do not participate during a university-declared suspension of classes.
  • All residential dining halls will be open.
  • Olin Health Center will remain open.
  • Intramural facilities and the library will have limited availability.

A decision about classes for Thursday, January 31 will be made by noon on Wednesday.
