MSU Bakers, the on-campus bakery at Michigan State University, recently announced the opening of an on-campus storefront. Located at 220 Service Road, the renovated space on the west side of the building allows the bakery to offer walk-in purchases of delicious made-from-scratch treats.
“We are fortunate to have the opportunity to serve the campus community and other customers in this capacity,” said Cindy Baswell, bakery manager. “We welcome comments and suggestions as we explore this new venture so we can serve them well.”
Since transitioning their order pickup to the west side of the MSU Food Stores building in July, the team has worked hard to enhance the customer service area, adding several tables with a full bakery case and decorative baskets as well as wall art to showcase a variety of their colorful, homemade items.
Fresh-baked goods, including bagels, breads, cookies, doughnuts and granola, are available weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Indulge in your favorite campus-made items like Double Chocolate Chip Cookies, homemade Granola, No Bake Cookies, English Muffin Bread and more. Bread sales benefit the MSU Student Food Bank, with $0.50 from each order donated to support students in need.
Customers can follow the signs displayed on Service Road and in the parking lot, guiding them to designated free parking spaces right outside the door to the new storefront and order pickup area. This unique development allows MSU Bakers to expand their customer base in the greater East Lansing area.
Moving forward, the team will experiment with offering cakes and other decorated items as business grows.
Additionally, MSU Bakers will explore alternative hours for special events. For example, customers heading to campus for home football games may have an opportunity to purchase their beloved Game Day Cookies to share with family and friends at a Saturday tailgate.
Beyond purchasing items in person from the storefront, guests can visit msubakers.com to place orders online, with pick up and on-campus delivery available for $2 per order.
Customers will find monthly specials on the website, including themed items for holidays, as well as customizable products.
