MLK Commemorative Week

Michigan State University will honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during MLK Commemorative Week. Several events will take place on campus, notably featuring Robert L. Green.

Green is a former dean for MSU's College of Urban Development and from 1965-1967, he worked for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as the education director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

Green organized and lead MSU's first march the day after King's assassination 50 years ago, and he will lead a commemorative march alongside MSU's Black Student Association April 4. Event details include:

• Monday, April 2 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.: Dr. King's Radical Idea: Working Through Fear in Difficult Times: A Roundtable with Robert L. Green. MSU Museum, reception includes light refreshments
• Wednesday, April 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Dr. King's Message of Utilizing Peaceful Persistence to Overcome Fear in the Fight for Social Justice: An Interactive Conversation with Robert L. Green. Kellogg Center luncheon, Outreach and Engagement
• Wednesday, April 4 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.: Commemoration of the First MSU MLK Assassination Protest March, MSU Student Union, Black Student Association

Events are free and open to the public. Green is available to the media for interviews by phone or in person from 9 to 11:30 a.m. April 3.
