Michigan State University has nominated two Honors College seniors majoring in international relations in James Madison College for the nationally competitive James C. Gaither Junior Fellows program.
Each year, through the program, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace offers approximately 12 to 14 one-year fellowships to uniquely qualified graduating seniors and individuals who have graduated during the past academic year. Fellows work as research assistants to Carnegie's senior scholars.
MSU's nominees are Julia Christensen and Ayelet Zamek.
Christensen is a research assistant for MSU's Asian Studies Center and previously conducted research as an intern for the U.S. Department of State.
Zamek aides the Center for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies as a research assistant under Norman Graham, professor in James Madison College, and held an internship this past summer with the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department.
"Their work alongside MSU faculty has prepared Julia and Ayelet to be research assistants for the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace," said Cynthia Jackson-Elmoore, dean of the Honors College.
