Michigan State Univesity hydrologist Jay Zarnetske co-authored a study to explore the effects that climate change and global warming has on the Arctic; and how this will potentially impact habitats for fresh water fish and others animals in the future.
Zarnetske, an associate professor of hydrological sciences at MSU, with a passion for freshwater resource issues, focuses his research in the U.S., Europe and the Arctic on how human activity is affecting freshwaters and damaging the environment and economy. Zarnetske introduced the idea of using streams as sensors to diagnose which watersheds can be developed for food production.
In 2016, Zarnetske participated in the Arctic Long Term Ecological Research project, which is part of the network of sites established by the National Science Foundation to support long-term ecological research in the United States.
