Michigan State University’s Office of Cultural and Academic Transitions and The Graduate School are partnering with other local institutions and enterprises such as the University of Michigan and General Motors to collect and send needed supplies to Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico Rises, a Florida non-profit organization, is spearheading the massive supply drive. The organization is committed to distributing first need items to those most in need.
Eight convenient drop-off centers located throughout campus are accepting items such as batteries, mosquito repellent, hand sanitizer, various toiletries, bottled water and much more. Drop-off centers can be found in the Office of Migrant Student Services; The Graduate School, Chittenden Hall; the Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives; CRU Room, Wilson Hall; the Office of Cultural and Academic Transitions; Neuroscience Office, Giltner Hall; Engineering Building, CHEMs Office; and the College of Human Medicine Office of Admissions.
All centers will remain open until Oct. 12. MSU’s Infrastructure Planning and Facilities will drive several trucks to the Ann Arbor collection site on Oct. 13. From Ann Arbor, Ford, GM and Toyota are sponsoring the transport of all supplies to Puerto Rico.
