The Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and its partners will host the second annual Flint Dental Health Fair, Aug. 12.
The free community event, “Food, Family and Fun,” will take place at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 East Carpenter Road in Flint, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Families are invited to receive free oral health supplies and dental screenings from Flint-area dentists while “brushing up” on general health and insurance information and enjoying free food and fun family activities. Participants can also register to win door prizes including a television, restaurant gift cards and more.
“Dental health is extremely important for the overall health of Flint families,” said Woody Neighbors, a C.S. Mott Endowed Professor of Public Health in the College of Human Medicine. “Many kids don’t have access to fluoridated water, which helps reduce cavities. The dental health fair can identify those who need additional care and provide them with resources needed."
Diamond sponsors for the health fair include the Michigan Dental Association Foundation, the American Beverage Association and the Michigan Soft Drink Foundation.
The Dental Health Fair is a partnership among Community Based Organization Partners, Community Outreach for Family and Youth and the MSU College of Human Medicine Division of Public Health’s Man Up Man Down Research Program.
