Michigan State University’s fourth annual Fate of the Earth Symposium will gather researchers, academics, scientists and communicators from across the globe to explore the theme of “Climate-Food-Energy-Water Nexus.”
Organized by MSU’s Environmental Science and Policy Program, the two-day conference is scheduled for April 12-13 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. The gathering will begin with a public symposium featuring Charles Fishman, author and investigative journalist, and Lana Pollack, United States section chair of the International Joint Commission.
MSU’s Joan Rose, winner of the Stockholm Water Prize, will address “The Water Quality Crisis: Are We Risking Our Health?” A panel of experts on the Flint water crisis will discuss key takeaways from the ongoing response to the city’s water system.
On April 13, researchers from Big Ten universities, the University of California, Berkeley, international scholars and private industry experts will lead a technical discussion of the problems facing the world’s water, land, air and food supplies.
MSU undergraduate and graduate students will also present environmental science and policy research posters on both days of the symposium.
The event is free to the public and pre-registration is required.
