Alita Burmeister is a doctoral student studying microbiology and evolution. She conducts research with University Distinguished Professor Richard Lenski. Burmeister also teaches microbial genetics and mentors undergraduate researchers. An active blogger and Twitter user, her research is supported by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
