The MSU College of Veterinary Medicine invites all ferret fans, lizard likers and others interested in the animal kingdom to the Vet-a-Visit open house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 6.
The annual event – which this year celebrates 50 years – lets visitors learn about and interact with animals of all sizes, from pocket pets to cows and horses.
Guests can visit the petting zoo or the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, milk a cow, touch a snake, have their injured stuffed animal fixed by a student doctor and even peek inside the stomach of a live cow. There also will be information about proper pet care, but outside pets are not allowed.
Visitors considering working in veterinary medicine are encouraged to attend presentations and discussions to learn more about admissions requirements, life in the college and career opportunities.
Vet-a-Visit is a free event, but some children’s activities cost a few dollars. Refreshments and souvenirs also will be for sale.
A schedule, map and more details are available here.
