The Michigan State University College of Music will present the Verdehr Trio at 7:30 p.m. June 13 at Wharton Center's Cobb Great Hall.
Featuring trio members Walter Verdehr, Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr - both longtime faculty members at the College of Music - and Silvia Roederer, the Verdehr Trio performs concerts worldwide.
The recital repertoire includes:
"Terzina" by James Niblock, MSU faculty member/administrator, 1948-1985; "Trio" by Ricardo Lorenz, MSU faculty member, 2005-present; "Night Song" and "From Nourlangie" by Peter Sculthorpe, Australia; "Sketch Book" by Gernot Wolfgang, Austria and Los Angeles; "A Trio Setting" by Gunther Schuller, Manhattan School of Music, Yale University and New England Conservatory of Music; "Trio" by Stephen Chatman, University of British Columbia; "Slang" by Libby Larsen, residencies with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Charlotte Symphony and the Colorado Symphony.
Tickets are $10, $8 for senior citizens and free for students and those under age 18. Tickets can be purchased at the MSU College of Music or at the door at Wharton Center. There will be a $2.50 restoration fee for tickets purchased at Wharton Center. For more information, call (517)-353-5340.
