EAST LANSING, Mich. -- MSU’s Division of Residential and Hospitality Services and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will co-sponsor the 4th annual Help Tackle Hunger Food Drive Nov. 20 at the Purdue vs. MSU football game.
“Over the last three years, the annual food drive has resulted in an outpouring of community support, and we need to continue that momentum this winter,” said Becky Dantonio, event chair and wife of MSU football coach Mark Dantonio, said. “We encourage our fans to come to Spartan Stadium next Saturday for the home finale against Purdue to cheer on our team as well as join our campus and local communities to help tackle hunger.”
MSU is seeking donations of non-perishable food and personal care items for the Greater Lansing Food Bank and the MSU Student Food Bank. The greatest need exists for non-perishable goods such as beans, canned goods, boxed meals, pasta, peanut butter, rice and instant potatoes. Donations collected through game day will be given to the MSU Student Food Bank. Game day collections will be given to the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
Donations will be accepted through Nov. 20 in all residence hall service centers, MSU Union, Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, Spartan Village Community Center and University Village Community Center. On Nov. 20 contributions may be brought to marked collection points near Spartan Stadium and at lot 89 and Munn Field. Monetary donations are also being accepted at all Sparty’s locations, the Union Central Store and Spartan Spirit Shop at the MSU Union and the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center Gift Shop.
“Our community needs our support and Spartans will,” said Vennie Gore, assistant vice president for the Division of Residential and Hospitality Services. “Food bank shelves continue to run dangerously low on supplies and donations are greatly appreciated.”
