MSU Libraries to host biofuels presentation Nov. 4

EAST LANSING, Mich. - On Nov. 4, MSU Libraries will host a presentation on "Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center: Making Biofuels an Economic Reality."

The presentation is part of the Library Environmental Series and will take place at noon in the North Conference Room (W449) of the Main Library.

The presentation will be led by Jonathan Walton, professor in the Department of Plant Biology and associate director of the MSU Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center.

The Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center is part of a collaborative of more than 100 MSU faculty and staff, the University of Wisconsin and other partners. It's funded by a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to do fundamental research on biofuels.

The center focuses on identifying and solving the bottlenecks in converting lignocellulosic materials, such as agricultural debris and wood, into liquid transportation fuels, particularly ethanol.
