MSU nominates five students for esteemed Goldwater Scholarship

The MSU Distinguished Student Awards Office has nominated five students for the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. Michigan State has produced 55 Goldwater Scholars.   

The Goldwater Foundation seeks sophomores and juniors committed to a research career in STEM fields with the potential for significant future contribution in their chosen field. The award provides $7,500 per year in funding for approximately 51 students for undergraduate tuition and living expenses.  

All five MSU nominees are members of the Honors College and have had multiple research experiences across campus. They are:   

  • Erik Brodsky, a junior majoring in Advanced Mathematics and Computational Mathematics in the College of Natural Science.
  • Jesse Sandhu, a junior majoring in Chemical Physics in the College of Natural Science.
  • Samantha Schulte, a junior majoring in Chemical Engineering in the College of Engineering.
  • Grace Showerman, a junior majoring in Astrophysics, as well as Computational and Applied Mathematics in the College of Natural Science.
  • Caden Wade, a junior majoring in Crop and Soil Science in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
