Michigan State University’s Arlynn Dailey has been appointed to the inaugural Michigan Board of Dietetics and Nutrition by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. The board’s primary purpose is to establish and administer the licensing of dietitian nutritionists. Dailey’s term runs through June 2029.
As the community engagement and outreach administrator for the external relations team at the MSU College of Human Medicine Detroit campus, Dailey’s experience with people in the community, health care and higher education will help inform the board’s actions so Michigan residents can be confident they are receiving medical nutrition therapy from qualified practitioners.
Dailey, a Detroit native, has been immersed in health care environments nearly her whole life.
“As a third grader, I was a latchkey kid who rode the bus after school to Henry Ford Hospital where my grandmother worked,” she said. “From that experience, it showed me there was a place for me in the health care field.”
In her role as director of community engagement for Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences, Dailey led the 2023 Community Benefits Ordinance process to secure approval for Michigan State University’s participation in the Future of Health, a $3 billion development in Detroit’s New Center neighborhood.
Dailey continues to work closely with outreach and community engagement teams from Henry Ford Health and the Detroit Pistons on behalf of Michigan State University to support and provide benefits for the Detroit community.
“I’m excited to be working with like-minded individuals to help bring about progress and change in public health,” Dailey said about her appointment to the board. “You need all hands on deck, and connection is very important. I want to be as helpful as I can be and make MSU proud.”
