Spartan student-athletes post highest cumulative GPA in department history

In an academic year that celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Clara Bell Smith Student-Athlete Academic Center, Michigan State student-athletes turned in a record-breaking spring semester in the classroom, posting the highest cumulative GPA in athletic department history, 3.3744.

In addition, all teams posted a 3.0 cumulative GPA, marking another first for the athletic department.

“The historic academic achievements of our student-athletes are truly remarkable,” said vice president and Director of Athletics Alan Haller. “The demonstrated across-the-board success of every program posting a 3.0 cumulative GPA is a tribute to the students' hard work, as well as the dedicated academic support staff. The record-setting numbers are certainly a fitting end to the Smith Center's 25th anniversary year.”
