Spartan Nature Walks

MSU students, faculty, staff and friends: Want to go for a walk?

We would like to offer you the opportunity to get outside, explore nature, go for a walk and inhale some nice, fresh air. So we bring you, Spartan Nature Walks. Department of Forestry tree experts are full of fun facts and will guide you throughout Baker Woodlot for some peace of mind.

The walks begin at the west entrance to the woodlot, across from MSU Surplus and Recycling Center and take place from 1-2 PM on the following dates:

January 20 | 1-2 PM

Department Chair and Professor Rich Kobe will guide January's walk. Kobe provides historical context and moments of reflection throughout the walk. The weather will be crisp, so dress accordingly.

February 3 | 1-2 PM

Professor David Rothstein will guide February's walk. Rothstein knows Baker Woodlot like the back of his hand, and he will walk us through the lot during a particularly quiet and peaceful time of year. Make sure and bundle up for this walk!

March 2 | 1-2 PM

Assistant Professor Samantha Gailey will guide March's walk. During the walk, Gailey can also answer any questions you may have about forests and how they relate to our overall health. Bring your boots, it might get muddy.

April 6 | 1-2 PM

Department Chair and Professor Rich Kobe will close out the spring semester's walks. Similar to March, make sure and bring those boots, as it may be muddy.
