With the release of U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 edition of Best Colleges, Michigan State University has four undergraduate programs ranked in the top 25 in the nation. The rankings are based strictly on reputational surveys completed by peer institutions.
“It is rewarding to be recognized by our peers for MSU’s exceptional programs and educational experiences,” said MSU President Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Ph.D. “We help prepare our students for success after graduation with strong curricular and experiential education, providing complementary learning experiences that each play a unique role in the holistic development of students. The practice piece matters, along with the classroom experience, and we do this really well at MSU.”
MSU is tied for No. 63 overall and tied for No. 30 among four-year public institutions.
U.S. News & World Report ranks the following MSU undergraduate programs in the nation’s top 25:
- No. 1 overall and among public institutions: Supply chain management
- No. 3 overall, No. 2 among public institutions: Production/operations
- No. 15 overall, No. 10 among public institutions: Management
- No. 25 overall, No. 17 among public institutions: Accounting
MSU’s undergraduate supply chain management program — housed within the Broad College of Business — maintained its No. 1 ranking for the 14th consecutive year. The Broad College’s graduate concentration in supply chain has held the No. 1 ranking in the nation for the past eight years, according to U.S. News & World Report’s graduate program rankings released last spring.
“We are very fortunate to have incredible dedication from our faculty and staff to earn this recognition as the No. 1 program in undergraduate supply chain management for the 14th year in a row,” said David Souder, dean of the Broad College. “In addition, the constant support of our alumni and industry partners helps inspire each group of students to put in the hard work that maintains our position. Looking ahead, we aim to incorporate innovations that push the program to keep raising the standard for supply chain education worldwide.”
Two additional programs are ranked in the top 30 nationally and the top 20 among public four-year institutions. Undergraduate business is ranked No. 27 overall and No. 17 among public institutions. International business is ranked No. 29 overall and No. 16 among public institutions.
The university is ranked in the top 10 in three student engagement categories.
- No. 4 overall, No. 2 among public institutions: Learning communities
- No. 8 overall, No. 1 among public institutions: Education abroad
- No. 9 overall, No. 1 among public institutions: Service learning
In addition, the Wall Street Journal and College Pulse released their 2025 edition of the Best Colleges in the U.S. MSU is ranked No. 22 among public institutions and No. 60 overall.
